I had a friend come over and help me dig holes last Saturday afternoon. We used a two-man auger and it was brutal. So many damn rocks in that dirt. While digging we actually found an expended old blasting cap. I had to ask myself how grapes are even going to stand a chance growing [...]
I started working on rock mulching rows 3, 4, 5, and 6 in the evenings after work this week since we have more daylight. Here are a couple of pictures. The sun was setting while I was up there so I took a picture of the view I will have from row 8.
I have been completely consumed with iPhone development. It is just so much fun. I haven’t been watching any movies or updating this blog. The vineyard is coming along though. I will be digging 40 holes this weekend and hopefully planting a day or two after that.
I was able to pick up 20 Petite Sirah from Frank Bons over at Sunfresh Vineyards on Wednesday night. Very cool. I still have quite a bit of work to do to get my rows ready. Now I just have a little more motivation.
Almost have seven rows done. Hopefully, the vines get here today. Lots of work left to do before I can plant.
After talking to my buddy Scott who has a vineyard in Escondido, he convinced me to go ahead and get the vines. So I placed my order. The vines should be here on Friday or Saturday. I’m looking forward to their arrival and getting them in the ground.
